Mellanox's Big Data Unstructured Data Accelerator (UDA) Selected as Finalist for 'Best of Interop' Award

An open source software that doubles performance for Hadoop based data analytic applications to enable business decision at near real-time

(NASDAQ: MLNX; TASE: MLNX), a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced that the Unstructured Data Accelerator (UDA) has been selected as a finalist for the ‘Best of Interop’ in the ‘Performance Optimization and Testing’ category. UDA is an open-source acceleration package accelerating Hadoop Map Reduce framework, and provides RDMA acceleration for the shuffle and merge process within the MapReduce analytical engine. The RDMA capabilities deliver a lower latency, higher bandwidth data movement in the Hadoop cluster, while lowering the CPU overhead for handling network operations.

UDA 3.1 brings new capabilities to the Hadoop framework by:

  • Supporting compression enabled intermediate data, to accelerate network traffic.
  • High availability and resiliency features for faster and smoother operations
  • Plugin acceptance into the Apache open source Hadoop 2.0.x & 3.0.x
  • RDMA Performance enhancements
  • Commercial distribution support: Cloudera CDH 4.x and Hortonworks HDP 1.x
